Eri Sakurai

Contemporary artist
1984 Born in Kanagawa,Japan.
2007 Musashino Art University Department of Imaging Arts & Sciences

She creates works on the theme of contradictions and human relationships between conflicting things. After the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011, she was diagnosed with depression. As her moods became more up and down She began to use "0" (zero), which is neither negative nor positive, as a motif. She began to incorporate "fluid art" which is created by shaking the canvas and blowing on it, into her work because she felt it resembled the way people are tossed about by earthquakes and disasters. She resumed her activities in March 2021, 10 years after the disaster.
